Aftercare Questions

Infection Questions

It is normal to have redness and heat from your tattoo for up to 72 hours. If this persists after 72 hours and you have increased swelling, worsening pain, or red itchy bumps, then you may have an infection. In this instance, please let me know and we can investigate together. If these symptoms also come in conjunction with a fever and chills, you need to seek immediate medical attention.

If you follow all the aftercare steps, you will not get an infection. I take your health and wellness seriously and follow the highest standard of care to ensure there is no chance of cross-contamination or any contaminants coming into contact with your tattoo or anywhere that could potentially come into contact with your tattoo while you are receiving the service.

Bandage Questions

My bandage is leaking through and coming off right after my tattoo. What do I do?

Take your bandage off. You can take any non-stick bandage or gauze, put it over your new tattoo, and secure it with medical tape (not regular tape). A non-stick bandage is NOT a regular bandage. The label on the container will say “non-stick” or “hurt free.” If you have a first aid kit, you will find all of these items in it. Keep this bandage on overnight and remove it in the morning. After you remove the bandage, begin your aftercare ritual.

Another option that requires some pre-planning: If you know you are someone who develops a lot of plasma, I do sell extra Saniderm bandages that you can take home with you after your appointment.

It is absolutely okay to leave your tattoo unbandaged after the initial few hours. However you will leak plasma on your bedsheets overnight so make sure your bedsheets are clean and not your best linens!

There is redness around the clear bandage I was given. What's happening?
